To be honest, I think I just got really, really lucky. I’ve always enjoyed working with computers, but the first time I sat down to actually study one and learn about how they worked was when I was in college. There was a moment where it just clicked and I knew I wanted to work in computer science professionally. I’ve been studying computer science for 10 years (I’ve been a scientist for 6 years) and I’m nowhere near bored yet.

I am constantly amazed by all the things we can program a computer to do, whether it is my historical stuff, Sheila, Dimitar and Natalia’s translation research or Piyush’s work in machine learning. Computers are amazing machines and I’m very lucky that I got the chance to study them.
