Ph.D. from the Federal University of Santa Catarina - Brazil
Masters and PhD
I have worked as a teacher in different schools and universities in Brazil. I have also worked in a bank and as a researcher in a research centre in Holand.

Favourite thing to do in science: discover things from data
About Me: I'm a scientist that loves data and machines
I’m a Brazilian scientist living in Dublin at the moment. I have already lived in other countries such as Portugal, Holand, USA and England. I research how translation system (such as google translator) perform in relation to different types of texts as a way to discover how they should be improved. I also research how a certain language (e.g. English) is processed in the human’s brain.
I work in a research centre. Basically, my work is to analyse data I get from the automatically translated texts and carry out an analysis.
My Typical Day: My typical day is:
I wake up and have breakfast at home. Then I take the bus to go to the research centre where I work which is based in Dublin City University. When I arrive at work, I check my e-mails and try to reply to them all. After checking and replying e-mails, I start working with the data analysis. I then discuss my discoveries with my colleagues. Sometimes, I have meetings to discuss the research budget and to show my discoveries to other researchers and ask for their opinion on the methods and techniques I have used. After work, I go to the Gym. When I arrive at home I usually read some scientific articles related to my research before going to bed. It is a very exciting work because I always get amazed by my discoveries.
What I'd do with the money: go to schools and universities around Ireland
I would spend the money with travel expenses to go to schools and universities around Ireland to showcase not only what I do but also to explain research in my area. This money would be also spent to purchase material to offer hands-on activities to engage students with science and reflexive thinking.
