      It’s difficult to say because no discovery is possible without the breadth of research that led to the discovery. For example, we couldn’t have computers if we didn’t have electricity. The invention of the car requires the invention of the engine (steam, combustible, hydrogen, electric), and the invention of the wheel! So the greatest discovery is probably based on an earlier discovery, which is based on an even earlier discovery and so on.

      All that being said, vaccines are definitely one of the best discoveries in history. If you want to talk about something that positively impacted the quality of life for people, I think vaccines are probably one of the best things that humans have produced.
